Confirm age, location, account status, registration deadline and any entry fee or ticket. A rules discussion about scoring does not matter if the entry itself was not valid.

Format explains what a round means
Understand whether the event is knockout, league, points-based, timed or staged. Look for progression, elimination and re-entry rules before assuming one round decides the whole result.

- Check what happens if a round is interrupted.
Scoring and ties determine rank
Find both positive and negative scoring, then the tie-break method. A small penalty or secondary metric can explain a leaderboard position that looks surprising at first.

Settlement tells you when the result is final
The last visible leaderboard is not always the final settled result. Read review windows, disqualification clauses and payout timing before reporting a missing reward.
